1970s Fashion – Disco Clothes
1970s Disco Fashion – clothing and footwear is popular today and certainly does not seem to be going away anytime soon.
People love a good party and what a more fun way than to get dressed up in retro styles 70 s clothing. So what is it that makes this style and time so appealing? Well first there’s the disco and soul music with it’s good solid ’4 on the floor ‘ beat that in the first case makes everybody wish to get up and dance or the sweet sounding soul music with its smooth chilled out sound which is great when dancing with the presence of your special person at the end of the evening.
But what about those 1970s fashion styles?
70 s clothing worn by many was clearly ‘far out ‘ compared to the usual high street fashion store to those outlandish designer outfits, not just in the cut or shape but also those extremely bright colors, not to mention some of the fabrics used were quite revolutionary for the time, so let’s take a look at some of those threads and footwear.
70s Shoes and Boots
Starting off with those soles and heels, some of these were enormous with 5 inches plus on the heels and somewhere around 2 to 3 inches on the soles would definitely raise your height, nice if you aren’t particularly tall. The materials used besides traditional leather would be PVC and fur covered, such as leopard skin, all kinds of crazy bright colors like white – very hot, red, yellow, green and such like quite often decorated with flowers or patterns, which originated from the 60s and continued right on till the early eighties.
Men’s 70 s Clothing
The classic suit was the all white John Travolta 3 piece outfit from the Saturday Night Fever film and is still a top hit at today’s disco party nights, together with other forms of attire like tie and dye tee-shirts, wide collared bright coloured shirts with the wide kipper tie and the top button undone, or the shirt would only have its buttons fastened half way up boasting a hairy chest showing off some jewelry in the shape of a silver or gold medallion.
Women’s 70 s Fashion
There was a big range to pick suiting all tastes including mini skirts, which were above the knees, midi skirts – below the knee and maxi skirts which went down to the floor. There were a variety of trousers from snug fitting to bell bottom trousers, as well as all-in one outfits. All made with countless materials with elaborate or colorful patterns.
The best thing of all is that 1970s fashion is still with us as many folk turn to get away from the doom and gloom of the economic situation and wish to let their hair down and have a good party to cheer themselves up, and what cooler way to do that than dress up in 70 s clothing and party on down.
